Why Do Most Secular Liberals Interpret the First Amendment Wrong?

Don't they know that our Constitution is meant to protect those have a religious affiliation by not having government interfering? It's not the other way around where its suppose to protect those who don't believe and for those who want no spiritual/religious influence in government. A matter of fact our founding fathers were part of movements known as the Freemasons which is a movement of intellectuals who criticized those who share an atheistic worldview of government. Our country is meant to prevent atrocities created by a tyrant and most tyrants use religion abusively/manipulatively to get their way. This has been a fact for centuries. Tyrants are not religious by any means.
