Why would a (supposed) constitutional law professor pass a blatantly unconstitutional atrocity like Obamacare?

Because. like many of the current crop of politicians ( and some previous ones , as well) he believes the Constitution is a living document open to new interpretations, and the majority of lawyers can twist the meaning of anything to be what they want. These people are dangerous, and they can be found in both Dems and Repubs.
