What was the cause and effects of genocide?

Fanaticism and irrational hatred are the root causes of genocide. In the case of the Holocaust, Hitler and the Nazi Party used the latent anti-semitism as a tool to whip up fanatical hatred of the Jews. there was no logic behind it, they just used the Jews as scapegoats in a campaign to get into power. Once in power, they removed all other political parties and got caught up in their own hype. This resulted in the systematic extermination of Jews - and that was the effect. Mass killings with no reason or logic that would stand up to critical analysis. That and a total lack of humanity.
