Why Dalai Lama supports the Iraq war?

If any war in the whole human history which can be without doubt classified as illegal, immoral and barbaric, is the current Iraq war, considering the fact that it was based on a big fat lie which resulted in the complete destruction of a country with more than a million being killed. The war which is full of atrocities like Abu Ghraib, Haditha killing, Fallujah massacre and countless more. Then why the Dalai Lama, who preaches about Ahimsa and non-violence backs Iraq war? How can he justify the Iraq war when he believes in the teaching of Buddha? Doesn't this mean, he just doesn't want to loose the trust of the Americans who are already supporting him on the Chinese-Tibetan conflict, even though if he might find the Iraq war as completely contradictory to the teaching of Buddhism.
