What are some main Bible passages I should read?

I am not a very religious person, but I do believe in all the basic Christian stuff like Jesus is God's son, I am a sinner and only Jesus can save me. But, my family doesn't go to church and I have never read the Bible. Well, my friend invited me on her church's mission trip and I just have one day to read up on some Bible passages so I'm not totally lost when everybody starts talking. Any suggestions from all you Christians out there?
