Can a 16 year old and a 17 year old run away legally in the state of Massachusetts?

So my girlfriend and I have been together for a very long time and about a month ago her mother found out she was gay and that we were together and now has forbidden us to see each other. Recently, we've really started considering what we could do because there's just no way that her and I can stay apart and her mother, who is extremely religious and against homosexuality, will not listen to us when we try to reason with her. My question is if we were to run away (her being 16 and me being 17) could we get in legal trouble for it and could her mother bring her back home? This is really our last option, we've tried everything else and what we have isn't something we can just throw away, its real. If somebody could please help me out and let me know how much trouble we're looking at here that would be really helpful. Thanks ahead of time!
